Google Maps™

You must have GPS or wireless network location capability turned on to view your location in Google Maps and to use your location to find local resources. If you’ve turned off GPS satellite functionality since initial setup of Optimus U, follow these steps:

  1. From the home screen, press the Menu Key .
  2. Touch Settings > Location & security.
  3. Touch Use GPS satellites to allow this feature.
  4. Read the information and touch Agree to continue.
  5. To turn on wireless network location capability, touch Use wireless networks.
  6. Read the statement and touch Agree to continue.

With location services on, follow these steps to use Google Maps:

  1. From the Launch screen, touch the Maps icon .
  2. Your location will be identified on the map. To zoom in to see more detail, place two fingers on the screen and spread them apart. To zoom out to see a larger area, place two fingers on the screen and pinch them together.
  3. To search near your location, press the Search Key and enter a search term (for example, “coffee”). Touch the Search icon to begin the search.
  4. Nearby locations will be displayed on the map. Touch a marker to open a balloon identifying the location. Touch the balloon for more details about the location.
  5. To find your way to the location, view its details and touch the Directions icon . Select Driving Navigation or Walking Navigation for GPS navigation using Google Maps Navigation or Get directions to get driving, biking, walking, or bus route directions to the location.
    • You can also initiate a directions search by pressing the Menu Key while in Google Maps and touching Directions. From here, you can enter an address or a general location name in the End point field and touch Go to get directions there.
